The Genuine References
The genuine Cosmograph Daytona carries a tachymeter scale on the bezel that reads average speed over a measured distance based on elapsed time. The Rolex page for reference 126508 describes the tachymeter scale as allowing measurement of speeds up to 400 units per hour. The WatchBase record for 126500LN-0001 shows a 2023 introduction, a 40mm stainless steel case with a black Cerachrom bezel, and caliber 4131. The Rolex page for reference 126505 (Everose gold) describes caliber 4131 with approximately 72 hours of power reserve and an 18kt Everose gold case.
The yellow gold 116508 references use caliber 4130 with a column-wheel chronograph and a 40mm yellow gold case. WatchBase records reference 116508-0009 under the community nickname "Paul Newman" with a black dial. Reference 116515LN-0017 has an Everose case with a Cerachrom black ceramic bezel and caliber 4130; WatchBase records it as produced from 2019 to 2023. References 126508-0001 and 126508-0002 use 18kt yellow gold cases and Oyster bracelets with a fixed engraved tachymetric scale.

What to Check in the Photos and Video
When you receive photos and a video of your watch, check these points. Confirm the sub-dial layout: the Daytona has three chronograph counters. On references with a Cerachrom ceramic bezel, check the insert color and the tachymeter scale legibility; on references with a metal bezel, check the engraving depth and finish. Check the chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock for a clean fit against the case. Confirm the dial color and counter ring colors match the reference you ordered; for example, a panda layout (white dial, black counters on 126500LN-0001) or a Paul Newman layout (116508-0009). On Oysterflex strap variants, check that the strap meets the lug without a visible gap.
